I had enjoyed being an amateur adventurer whenever I went travelling to new countries. It had sometimes led to heated discussions with the local law enforcement as I had the tendency to disturb sites that were off limits to the public. My mind was too curious for my own benefit. Nothing too serious had happened though to stop myself from studying the history of past civilizations on my own.
As I was yet again trespassing in an old church that was being renovated the floor under me gave out and I fell through it. When the dust settled, I noticed that there was a tunnel leading deeper. After travelling a while, I came across an underground area that looked like a worshipping site. The altar was covered in dust and I started cleaning it with my hand.
The markings were something I had never seen before. I noticed that behind the altar there was a narrow gap leading forward. I followed it and came across a sturdy gate. I saw a key hanging close to it and used it to get past it. I entered some sort of ancient barracks. It was littered with dead skeleton soldiers in their armour. Still clinging onto their weapons.
A lot of time had passed since anyone had walked on this area but it seemed that they had simply died of hunger. Their armours had no signs of battle in them. They were very ornamental which led me to believe that these weren’t some common soldiers. I found an office that presumably belonged to the commander.
There was a handwritten book on the desk that looked like a journal. I couldn’t understand the language but I took it with me. Maybe I could find someone who could read it. I continued my way further into the barracks. I entered a small room where some kind of vessel was resting on a pedestal. The room’s walls were littered with strange symbols. Two more dead soldiers were laying at the base of the pedestal.
It was clear that this had been what they had all been guarding. Thinking that it must have been something extremely valuable I took the urn like item from the pedestal. I tried to open it but the lid wouldn’t budge. I was carrying it with me back to the surface but I tripped on the way and the urn slipped from my hand.
It hit the ground and shattered. It appeared that it had been filled with some sort of jewels that resembled diamonds. With closer inspection though those jewels looked more like solid tears. I saw something sticking out from beneath them and dug it out. It was some sort of cylinder. As soon as I lifted it from the pile of diamonds it started smoking and getting hotter.
It was soon so hot that I had to throw it away. As it hit the ground a cloud of black smoke filled the corridor followed by flames. The flames just kept getting bigger which I found to be odd as there wasn’t anything flammable nearby. Just rocks. Amongst the flames I could see a shape forming that resembled a human.
The flames started to subside a bit and I could now clearly see someone walking towards me. As she came out of the smoke I almost screamed. I mean her body looked hot but her face scared the shit out of me. I tried to walk backwards but I tripped on a rock and fell to the ground. She walked right at me and lifted me up from my shirt like I weighed nothing.
She was talking to me with the tone of a demigod but I couldn’t understand what she was saying. She was getting angry but then smirked at me. She opened her mouth and blew black smoke on my face. I had no choice but to inhale it. She started talking again but this time what she said made sense. Well, at least I recognized the words.
“You’ve done me the greatest service any human could and I thank you for that. Don’t be afraid. I know my appearance might seem intimidating but I have no intention to hurt you. In fact, quite the opposite. I don’t know how long I was locked up in that vessel but I do know that it has made me rearrange my priorities. Have you been one of my believers for long?”, she asked.
I had absolutely no idea who she was but she definitely wasn’t human although she resembled one. I knew the site had been important to many religions in the past, long before Christians had built their church on it. She must have been trapped into that urn for a reason. Still, she said she had arranged her priorities. Maybe she wasn’t that bad anymore?
She looked stunned and surprised as I confessed that I had no idea who she was. I told her what had happened on our way back to the church. She looked around it, staring at the altar and the mosaics behind it. “Then that means I’ve been forgotten. My followers and captors alike are dead. People believe in completely different deities now”, she said sounding sad.
The door of the church opened and a bunch of construction workers came inside led by a finely dressed man. At first, they didn’t even notice us but when the man in suit looked at us, he froze in place. “No, it’s not possible. You’re not real. You’re just a story made to scare the children to make them behave properly”, he said frightfully.
“Well, at least someone remembers me, sort of”, she said smirking and started walking towards him. The man grabbed a candlestick and pointed it towards her. “Begone foul demon. Don’t get any closer or I’ll…” She grabbed the candlestick and ripped it away from his grip “you’ll do what? You think you could ever hurt me on your own? It took twenty high priests to capture me in the first place. What hope do you think you’d have?”, she asked dismissively.
The man obviously knew who the woman was I asked him about it. He had terror in his eyes as he talked “that’s Kalmira. The woman of the end times. I thought those were just made-up stories that I heard as a child. Of a woman who’s hunger for power was never ending. Before she could bring the whole world into chaos she was captured and sealed away. She vowed to make the world burn when she’d break free.”
“Relax now. I did have those thought but I’ve had plenty of time to think while I was away. People feared me but no one really loved me. That’s the feeling I’m missing right now. And I think I know just the person to try it out first with”, Kalmira said as she looked at me seductively. “Don’t give in to her charms. That demon is pure evil. She’ll just use you to further her quest for power”, the man warned.
Kalmira turned her head towards him. A ring of fire ignited on the floor surrounding him. The man was trapped but seemed to be unharmed. “Do I have to shut you up permanently or can you learn not to disturb me?” Kalmira was certainly irritated and I feared if that man would keep his mouth shut for his own good. Thankfully he did. Kalmira extinguished the ring and all of them to leave us alone.
As the door closed, she put her arms around me. “Now I hope we won’t be having any more interruptions. I meant what I said. Since you’re the one who freed me I think you should have the first chance to have me as your girlfriend. We can proceed at a pace that fits you though I must say that I’d be completely ready to fuck you right here and now if you liked. So, you wanna hook up with me?”, she asked sensually.
Before I could answer she leaned towards me and I could hear her sniffing the back of my neck. She exhaled with a sigh. “I mean I can wait but seeing as you’re already so sweaty, your muscles looking pumped. I can resist if you don’t want to jump into this but just tell if you do.” I had the feeling that maybe it was best to give her the go ahead.
She looked very friendly and interested in me but that could all change in an instant if I tried to go against her wishes. No matter how much she tried to convince me that I had a choice. In any case how many guys could say that they had a demigod as their girlfriend?
Enjoyable read...but it feels like Chapter 1 of a longer story...might we please see additional chapters to follow from where this one left off?
